This chick

Mmmm.....this girl. Walking everywhere. All the time. I haven't seen her crawl much at all the entire week if I stop and think about it.

Still just two teeth on bottom and one on top. Her hair is getting thicker and longer all the time.

She holds baretts up to her head when she finds them. Puts her necklaces up to her head and bends over wanting you to put it on.  Holds anything resembling a phone up to her neck, as if talking on it. She is copying as much of what Caden does as she can.

Knows what she wants and bicracky she sure gets mad of you don't figure it out. Tried Mac n cheese today and pretty sure she thought it was an early Christmas present. Loves to hold markers and tap them on paper while her brother colors pictures. She thinks she is doing the same :).

She is so in love with the Christmas tree. This momma might have a full time job putting ornaments back on the tree the while month of December.

Knows she is cute and is a total ham. Mmm, just want to freeze her and gobble up this deliciousness forever!!

I mean seriously......

Grammy and grandpa time

Caden has been asking my mom constantly for the last couple weeks when he could spend the night with them.

He also decided yesterday that he needed to help Grammy and grandpa put up their train around their Christmas tree when the time came to do so.

So bless their hearts, grandpa called last night to see if he could come pick Caden up this afternoon, help put the train up, then eat supper THEN spend the night.

He was so excited, and ready to pack right away. At bedtime he wanted to be sure and pray for them since they invited him to spend the night :).  This morning he wanted to wear his watch for the first time in two years so that he would know what time grandpa was coming :).

"Oh, about 18 minutes and 1 hour til grandpa comes, my watch says." Yum!

So, gramps came to pick him up this afternoon. Need I say more!?

Muffin tops and puke wars

Wondering what in the world the Meyer household could be up to now!?

Me too sometimes :).

Well, don't let the title mislead you too much. Muffin tops!? No, I am not insulting my daughter's awesome figure and rolls she sports like a champ. Rather, one of her many new eating habits. The kids love blueberry muffins. I make the mini ones for them a lot of mornings. You know, the fancy 'just add water' kind!? Well anyhow they think it's awesome when we have them. They will eat as many as I make most mornings.

Well suddenly Avery has decided only muffin tops will do. Yep, used to be she ate whatever I put in front if her. I would break it up into little pieces and give it it her that way. Then she caught on that her brother was eating whole muffins and squawked til I gave her the same. So we did that.

Suddenly today she needs them with the wrapper still on. Like, wouldn't touch the unwrapped one I have her. So I gave her a wrapped one as a test. And she ate it. Just the top. When I unwrapped the bottom and gave it to her she looked at me like I had lost my mind. In an effort to get out the door without too many meltdowns this morning, I gave her another. And she did the same. And another. And she did the same. Yep, this mom got played. By her one-year-old. But this mom also got out of the house on time this morning without anyone screaming haha. Choose your battles. And waste muffins, I guess.

In other news Avery is keeping us on our toes.....and in the doctors office....once again. As would be expected for the awesome year of 2013, we are in the middle of a medical predicament once again.  This time, she has the doctors stumped even. Props to her. It took her mom to age 25 before she stumped the doctors on something.

Well Anyhoo this poor chick is suddenly projectiling her bedtime bottle every night. Totally fine during the day. Totally fine the rest of the night. Happy. No fever. Yep, what the heck!? The doctors are at a loss as we enter night six of this crazy new problem. They are hesitant to throw her into a bunch of tests she may not need, so as the doc put it to me on the phone tonight, he is sleeping on it tonight and seeing what he decides. Yes, we stumped the pediatrician folks. Thankyouverymuch.  At this point I am just praying it is not something major, although the doctors agree that 'major' would rear it's ugly head more than just at bedtime. Ugh. Stay tuned.....

Caden knows

Caden knows what he is talking about. Or at least he is pretty confident that he is most of the time :).

"What kind of pop does your daddy like? - Grammy
"Pepperoni" - Caden
"No I mean pop! We will ask him." - Grammy
So they called Jared.....
"Daddy likes Dr Pepper Caden" - Grammy
"That's what I said Grammy, pepperoni!" - Caden
Haha. Must sound a lot alike to him. He is so sure that's what he said. So cute.

"Mom I want little pancakes for breakfast today" - Caden
"We are out of those honey but we have little muffins" - me
"That's what I said." - Caden
Oh, my bad.....

Cracks me up, that kid :).

Adoption birthday

Avery had a good first birthday.... At least that's the impression I got from her! She went to school all day in her beautiful purple cupcake outfit and, per her report from school, got to go outside with her friend Irene and play the marimba, her personal favorite. Duh.

After school she was exhausted so we gave her presents to her, did bath and supper at the speed of light, and little miss birthday girl was asleep by 6:45.  She was so wiped!! Slept until 7:30 the next morning. Mmmm.....happy birthday indeed!!!

Avery's big present was a set of twin newborn cabbage patch dolls for her to adopt.  Did I mention my insane joy for having an excuse to get dolly garb once again!!!!

Amyway ..... We didn't know the sex of them or their names until we unwrapped each from their adorable little cabbage leaves.   I know it was 100% for me at that point.....and I am fine with that. Haha. Aves was busy crawling into her new dolly crib and chewing on her necklace and had new clew what was going on.

Caden helped me as we unwrapped each.  I squealed when we saw the pink diaper on one and blue on the other. I am cool like that.  Anyhow then we opened their adoption certificates to find out their names.  I am fairly confident these two names aren't stealing a spot for the top 10...or 20.....or even top 100 names of the year.

Meet Erin Ivan and Kent Kolton.  A doll named kent.  I kid you not. It's awesome. Not changing their names.

6 steps.... 8 steps.... And the dangerous driver

Well we are getting mighty close folks.  This chick took six steps without falling yesterday. Six! Not holding into a thing!!! Tonight she impressed us with eight. Eight!!! I fear my days of my speedy-crawling baby are soon coming to an end. We are much too close to walking around here......

In other news the adorable pink car Grammy and grandpa got her for her birthday is a huge hit to say the least. Although now little miss thing has discovered its a blast to stand up in the seat and show off your mad diving and crashing skills. Um.....where's my quiet girl who just sits!?!? We are making up for those mild months apparently :).....

These two!

My two little darlings keep me on my feet to say the least.

Avery isn't officially walking. But she has taken a couple steps on her own more than once. She walks along everything and crawls faster than I have seen a human crawl in recent memory.

It's so fun to see her develop a little personality and change each day. She has two teeth on bottom and one lonely 'giant' tooth on top. She understands she she is being funny now and laughs at herself. She says 'dad' and 'mom' and 'ya.'

"Avery are you so pretty?" .... "Ya"
When Jared opens the front door after work she instantly crawls towards the stairway saying " dad dad dad" before she even sees him.

She loves to snuggle and would be held all the time if she had it her way most days. She is such joy. If I could freeze her cute little self I would....love this stage :).

Caden is entertaining us with his quick whit and things he is saying these days. He is also playing and imagining and creating independently a lot lately which is fun to see.

Tonight he was crying that his legs hurt. I am guessing growing pains. Jared and I both had then badly when we were little. I told him he was probably growing. "I don't want to grow then," he cried to me.

Later when Jared was putting him to bed he said "daddy I don't want to be four anymore because it makes my legs hurt." Sweet boy!

We are still working on finishing up our kitchen cupboards getting painted so things are all over the place right now. I had our knife block sitting on the table the other day while that part of the kitchen was being painted. I sat Cw down with his lunch at the table right by it. A few minute later I hear from the dining room "mom who these knives out here? That's not a good idea to have knives by me."

He has always liked showers and takes thren quite a but with Jared. Well last week Jared put a shower head in our main bathroom tub, which we hadn't had for a long time. Caden is thrilled by it and likes to take showers in there himself now. He tells everyone about the "head shower" his dad put up for him. Haha.

He other night Jared and caden were in the garage while Jared painted. Jared dropped something and accidentally said 'darn it' .... But not 'darn it' if you get my drift :). Jared told Caden he was sorry he said that and it's never okay to use that word. "It's okay dad, grandpa says that when he is working on stuff." Haha. Oh the honesty of a four year old :).

He loves his time wth grandpa.  My dad is sweet about using his Friday afternoons off to hang with Caden when he can. One day I was explaining to him that grandpa was going to take him the next day when he got off work. Finally Caden interrupts and says, "wait you mean Dana right!?" Love it!

Well that's a few stories I wanted to share tonight. Here's to hoping I do this again soon.

No looking back

Well I have officially failed my blog. My daughter is a year old tommorow and I have spent the last six months trying to get caught up on my blog rather than just moving forward. Subsequently I have barely posted a thing. It makes me sad because I love blogging, but there's no looking back now....just a fresh start :). We will chalk the last year up as the craziest of my life, and move forward hoping I have enough blog entries to actually have a blog book again for the upcoming year.

Caden and Iz. Cousins forever friends always.

These two.

I can't get enough of it.

Love each other so much.

Can't get enough of each other.

Crack each other up all the time.

They are so close they are like siblings.

They quarrel so much they are like siblings.

Caden does the little things like whisper to Iz to do something mischievous he knows she didn't do. You know. Like a big brother would.

You get the idea.  They are so attached to each other. Couldn't have wrote it better myself. Thank you Lord :).

Wednesday Grammy Days

Grammy has Wednesdays off now, so this summer we tried to have fun with Grammy those days when we could! She spoils the kids (and us mommies :) ) crazy!!! We live Grammy and our sweet memories made together.
