Baptism

A couple Sunday's ago our church held a baptism service.  About 25-ish people were baptized.  It was an amazing service, hearing people's testimonies and watching many be baptized.  Making it even more special was that one of those people baptized was Jared.

We were both baptized as infants.  But we believe that once a person accepts Jesus Christ as their personal savior, a dry baptism take place in which Jesus saves us and forgives all our sins.  Then, as a follower of Christ, we are instructed to be baptized in front of others, and it's something a believe should choose to do, showing them that you are a follower of Christ and therefore choose to be baptized in water.

Even more special?  He had my brother-in-law (Allie's hubby) baptize him.  Allie and Bryan have been such a blessing and guide/example for both Jared and I in our relationship with Christ and each other.  Bryan has very much been Jared's spiritual leader in many aspects along the way.  So, on this day, Bryan baptized Jared.  Doesn't get much cooler than that, huh?

One of my besties Kelly was also baptized that day, during a different service, so Caden and I entertained Lexi during the service.....and had lots of fun :).

They didn't choose to be brother-in-laws.  They didn't have to be great friends.  They don't have to hang out on the weekends.  They don't have to take trips together.  They don't have to be there for each other.  But they are.  And they do.  And I love it.  How blessed Allie and I are that they are so close, and we don't have to force them to be together :).

A Chat with Wild Man

Sunday night as we were doing the bedtime routine, I was asking Caden about his weekend and talking all about what all we'd done.

Me: "Buddy, did you have a good weekend?"
CW: "Yah!" (In this high-pitched little mousey voice he does sometimes)
Me: "It was fun going to the football party wasn't it?"
CW: "Yes. Woooo!" (Hands in air - cheering for the Huskers :))
Me: "And there were all those boys to play with!" (There were 3 middle school boys at my parents' house for the football party, who'd come with their parents.  Caden had a ball wrestling them & running around)
CW: "Ya. Momma?"
Me: "What honey?"
CW: "Wah, me wocks, fuh-ball, gampa!"
Me: "Yes you're right, Noah was nice and played with you in the rocks for a long time, didn't he?  And Grandpa was there too, yep!" (Yes, that's how his phrase translates)
CW: "Yah!" (In high-pitched voice again :))
Me: "And tonight you got to go see Great-Grandpa, wasn't that fun?"
CW: "Gampa, ding ding ding, me, Gagampa, ding ding ding!!"
Me: "Ya, you and Grandpa did wrestle while Great-Grandpa watched, didn't you?  And you'd say 'Ding Ding' every time you won, good job!!"
CW: "Ya. Gampa"
Me: "You love Grandpa don't you??"
CW: "Ya.  Momma? Dadda peet side"
Me: "Yep, and Daddy painted outside today, you're right!"
CW: "Ya."
Me: "You're probably really tired after all the fun you had this weekend, aren't you?"
CW: "No.  Me nah seep Momma"

Of course he isn't worn out.  But we were :).  Time for bed, little man!!  I love our talks we have these days.  Just keeps getting more fun!
