Sweatin' and Having Fun!

Hello, friends!  Sorry it's been a week.  We have been having lots of fun even though it's been insanely hot the last few days!  This mom is trying to be brave and be out in the heat a little more, without over-doing it!  Caden is a chatter box the last week!  We find him repeating things/saying things clearly that we've never heard him say before.  That seems to be happening lots.  He must have a word bank in there and pulls 'em out one at a time when he feels like it, haha.  Let's see, I'm trying to think of the popular words this week....

He started saying Milo (our dog)'s name finally.  He has said "Ba-ba" for Barley (other dog) for a long time, but finally Milo got a name, too..... "Mie-mo".  "Bar" when he wants a breakfast bar.  "Dooce" for juice (which he now goes to the fridge and gets out :)..... interesting.  A big wet "Ppp" sound when he wants dip for his food (ketchup, or whatever).  Give this boy something to dip his food in, and he actually eats some of it!  "Shhh" when someone's sleeping.  "Car," "Cain" - train, "Goke" - goat, "Memo" - wants to watch Finding Nemo movie.  "Shhk" when he wants to watch Shrek.  "Melmo" when he wants to watch Elmo.  "Gampa" - Grandpa, "Ma-ma" - Grammy, "Da" - Grandad, "Grah" - Grandma.  "Beee" - Blankie.  I am trying to think of more, but drawing a blank.  Anyhoo, he's a chatterbox.

We started swimming lessons a couple weeks ago.  Wednesday was our 2nd lesson.  The first week Caden was a wreck.  I have never seen Caden scared, and let me tell you, he was terrified!  Screaming, crying, shaking while I held him in the pool with me.  Didn't let up the entire 40 minutes we were there.  Was reaching to go with parents from the other class who were leaving with their kid.  He woulda went with whoever if it meant he could get out of there.  Poor baby!  Second week, though, this last Wednesday, he was a whole new kid.  Face in water blowing  bubbles, jumping off the side in the pool to me, climbing out of the pool using the wall, 'reaching' in the water when we were 'swimming' for balls, it was great!  Two more Wednesday's left.  We have been taking them with Krissy and little Miss Lizzy, so that's been really fun!

Couple funny stories about his new words.......

I am addicted to Wintergreen Lifesavers.  Big time.  Once in a while Caden will catch me sneaking one and come running when he hears the wrapper crinkle as I open one :).  I ask him, "Do you want a piece?" every time and bite off an itty bitty piece for him.  Well anyhoo, now when he sees me get one and wants some, he points to the candy and says, "Peace!!"  I think he thinks the candy is actually called that.  It's pretty funny.

He officially says "Mama" for me.  For the longest time he would say it lots, but when you would ask who I was or anything, he had nothing to say for it.  I know, go figure!  Well anyhoo, in the last few weeks he will say "Ma-ma!" and smile and give me a hug.  A few times a day he will usually stop his seemingly never-ending business and come over and give me a big hug.  Makes it all worth it.  He is such a love.

Real kisses.  Yep, not just the mouth open and lean-in kind anymore.  Puts his lips together and makes the smacking noise when you tell him to give a kiss.  And he gives his stuffed animals kisses.  So cute.

Capeesh?  Last night Caden was doing something he wasn't supposed to be.  Can't remember what, I guess I lose track sometimes, haha :).  Anyway, I told him to stop doing that, he wasn't allowed to do so.  I followed that statement with, "Capeesh?"  I of course knew he didn't know what it meant and expected no response.  When he need another reminder not to do it, I said, "Caden, I said Capeesh, do you get it?" And he turned around to me and said, "K-pshhh!"  I about fell over laughing.  He got it :).  And he got me, haha.

Here's what we've been sweatin', errr....up to :).

"BOOM, "BOOM"......What a trooper :).

I love holidays.  I love any reason to celebrate whatever!!  I love the idea of watching fireworks.  I like to watch them when they are the big ones that are far away and I have no idea who is risking their life lighting them all of.  Yep, I'm a wee bit of a nervous nelly, and Fourth of July seems to bring out the best of that part of me.  My hubby LOVES lighting off fireworks.  I have always been the nerd who's nervous watching him light them off.  And now I have a son........

Last year he was little enough that he was just scared of them and our night ended pretty early.  This year he was completely unphazed by them.  He would watch one here and there, but for the most part was busy doing this 'n that, and didn't much care.  I think his Daddy wished he was more impressed by the fireworks he was setting off :).  Every so often he'd point to them and say, "Boom!" or "Roar!".  That was about it!

It was actually lovely.  I was nervous he'd be into them this year, and be the one trying to run down the driveway and 'help' with fireworks.  And, I'd be the nervous mom chasing him down every 2 seconds and sweating buckets.  But, obviously that did not happen.   The holiday that makes me so nervous was a delight this year.

We went to my parents' on Sunday night and Jared's parents joined us as well.  Then on the fourth we went to Jared's sister's.  It was a good time!!  See, this mama was nervous over nothing!  CW was a champ!  Happy Fourth of July to our 20-month old stud muffin!!!

Auntie and Uncle B bought CW a set of squirt guns....They
spoil him rotten.  And I love it........

And Uncle B helped him suprise Mommy with a shoot of water
as she came outside :).  It'll be payback one of these days,
Al and Bryan :).

He got them figured out.  Except they were backwards and/or
upside down most of the time.....shot himself in the face
umpteen times.....and thought it was a blast!!

The Dad's.
The Grandad and The Grandpa.

Making a plan of attack with Auntie......

Pointing at the parachute Jared set off.  He did like those.

He thought those were pretty cool!!!

Got himself in the face.  Cracks himself up.

So funny.  So cute.

Trying to get the boys in their matching shirts.
"Big Guy Meyer" and "Little Guy Meyer"

Caden brought Daddy a drink and wanted them to sit on the
sidewalk together for a little break between the action.
Kid's got some good ideas.

Found some "jish"....trash.....and wanted Grandad to help
him put it in the recycle bin.  I'm telling you, if it wasn't
for us messy parents living here, this kid would have our
house in order.  He puts it all in it's place, including trash!!

Watching the 'finale' on Sunday with Daddy.

The 1 pic I got of the ladies........

Juice Box.  Grandpa.  Fireworks.
On the Fourth......tried to get a pic of his cute t-shirt before we left.

Silly little man......wanted to rearrange/organize
my cupboard.  Good somebody is!!

Cupcake at Auntie Jaime's.

Diving right in.

Pulling Auntie Jaime on a leash.  She's a good sport.

Watching fireworks round 2.

The spectators.  Jaime's in-laws Bill and Barb came too.

Finger in mouth.  He never does this....
maybe was a little nervous??  So cute!!

Uncle Brian threw him up in the air about 150 times per
CW's request.  Poor Brian's arms!!!

Every time he'd 'land' CW would hold his cute little pointer finger
up, close to his face, for "One more time"....and Uncle Brian
had a hard time resisting, despite the pains in his arms, ha.
What a nice Uncle!

Attempt at a family pic.  Attempt competed.  Probably
won't be on the Christmas card :).
