Caden Quirps

Allie was over on Saturday during the game.  Caden wanted both of us to go in and put him to bed.  We all 3 laid on the floor a little while in his room singing songs.  I was right in the middle of "Jesus love the little children," when Caden turned to me and said, "Bye mom" and waved goodbye.  Then he turned over towards Allie and said, "My T".

Allie and I were laughing so hard we couldn't breathe.  Guess he was tired of my lame singing and just ready for his cool Aunt to hang out with him :).

He is into his playschool barn all of the sudden.  Tonight I caught him playing with the animals, having them facing each other and making crazy noises back and forth.  Like, real pretend playing.  I love it.

(After Caden squatted down in the yard to touch something)
"Caden, what were you picking up."
"Nah."
"Was it a rock?"
"No."
"Was it grass?"
"No."
"I hope it wasn't dog poop."
"Ya, poo mom, poo.
(Great).

(Pointing up at the sky the other evening - it wasn't even dark yet)
"Moo!!  Mo moo!"
I couldn't figure out what he was looking at.  Finally I realized, the moon.  He saw "More moon."
Don't ask me how he knows that.  I have never taught him.  I'm educational like that :).  Anyhoo, he knows the moon and where to look at it.

"Caden today's a school day, are you excited??"
"No. No sooce."
"I know you hate wearing your shoes, buddy, but new ones are on their way that will fit better and make you run faster.  Until then, though, we have to wear the ones we have."
"No, peece, no!"
"It's okay.  You'll have a fun day at school."
"Yay!"
"Owen will be there, Thatcher will be there, Miss Kassie, Miss K-Jo, lot's of friends."
"Yah, yah, ya!!!"
"And after school Daddy will pick you up."
"No. No dadda me."
"Daddy's not going to pick you up?  Sure he is.  Did you think Momma would today?"
"No.  My T."
"T is going to pick you up?" (Auntie)
"Ya.  Meh T and meh Boo." (My Auntie and My Uncle B)
"Oh, you made plans with them to pick you up today?"
"Ya"
"Well, how fun, I hope they know to come get you :)"
"Yaaaah"

Today's little quirps

Recent CW stories.........

He was in the living room with Jared while I was getting ready in the bedroom.  He wanted to eat cheerios, with milk, in the living room.  Jared sat down with him and was feeding them to him.  Caden wanted to do it himself (suprise!!), and Jared told him that he couldnt' do it himself, the milk might spill.  Three seconds later I hear this kid running down the hallway, crying his little lungs out.....

He appeared around the corner and hysterically exclaimed "Dadda, no, me cheesh (cheerios), no (pointing at self) me, my dadda...."

I think he was taddling on Jared, that he wouldn't let him eat the Cherios himself, haha.  Too funny.

Caden was very upset the other day that I didn't have shoes "sooce" to put on the dogs.  Sorry, buddy.

ME: "Caden, who's having a baby??"
CW: "T!!" (What he calls my sister)
ME: "Are you going to love the baby?"
CW: "Yah...."
ME: "Will you be nice to the baby?"
CW: "No!!"  "NO!"
ME: "Are you going to help with the ba...."  (Couldn't finish the question...Caden was covering my mouth and shouting "No!"......oops, we've got some work to do :)).

One day we went and got the mail and sat on the little brick wall on the side of our driveway.  Now every day he wants to get the "Meh" (mail) and "Shhht" (sit) on the brick wall.  Devasted if we don't do it, or skip either part of that routine.  What a squarepants, haha.

First Day of School

Caden started Dimensions again last Thursday.  He had been off since just before Memorial Day weekend.  He is now in the Toddler A room, or as I tell him "the big kids room."  The teachers are of course marvelous and we just feel so blessed to have a place such as Dimensions to take him to.  He goes Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 to 3.

Tuesday was his second day, and yet again he completely melted down when I was leaving.  But, also yet again, the report from his teachers at the end of the day was that he had a wonderful day, was a good smiley boy, and took a good nap.  They say he's fine once I leave and has no problems the rest of the day.  So, that makes me feel better.

Can't believe how grown up he is getting!!

Also can't believe how bad I've been at blogging......shame on me!!  We had a crazy few weeks, full of business, anticipation of my doctor's appointment at UNMC, etc.  So, here we are, almost end of August, and I'm way behind.

I'll post some end of summer pics soon.  I have lot's to get y'all caught up on.

I also need to get better about at least putting a 'blurp' every day or two about things Caden is saying, for my sake, to remember.  He's had some doozies already and I don't want to forget them all!!!  Lord knows I will!

Well, here he is.  Crazy to think how much he's changed just since school ended in the spring.  Now suddenly he's the boy who.....

Can turn door knobs & open doors

Go down the stairs all by himself

Say so many words, and at least tries to repeat much of what we say

Figured out the safety latches on the cupboards and opens them now

Is good at sharing his opinion ("Yes" or "No") and actually means it....in correct context

Only has a binkie in bed or the van

Feeds the dogs every morning

Sneaks the dogs way more treats than mommy says every day

Turns the hose on outside and helps himself to a water party

Holds his hands up and says "Go?" when he is looking for something

Says "Shhhh" and puts his finger to his mouth when he is 'suprising' someone

Gives real kisses

Gives real hugs

We're in love, can you tell :)??

Auntie

Caden loves his Auntie, "T" as he so lovingly calls her.

She is a wonderful Auntie to Caden.  She gives him her undivided attention and is willing to do just about whatever activity CW chooses for them.  He loves spending time with "T."

I made my sister an Auntie November 4, 2009.  While I'm a little jealous she got to be Auntie before me, I guess I won't get too wrapped up in it because that means I was a Momma Bear first :).  And I love it.

Auntie can spoil him rotten and send him home with a dirty face, hyped up on sugar.  Aunties can do that.

I can't wait to be an Auntie.  I hope I'm as good of Auntie to Muchnkin as my sis is to Caden.

Here's a picture of my sis with Caden.  It makes my heart happy.

Yep, there they are.....Allie, Caden, and Munchkin.  WHAT?!?!?  Who's Munchkin??

Nope, that's not the doting name we have for popcicles.  Munchkin is the fearfully and wonderfully made perfect little baby in my sis's tummy!!  Yep, that's right.  She's going to be a Momma Bear now!!  And that means I get to be an Auntie.

We were the first to know their news, and I believe it paints the perfect picture of how we will be with Munchkin......in on it all, not missing a beat :).  I am so overjoyed.  They will be wonderful parents.  Caden will be a ..... cousin ........ we're working with him on the "wonderful, sharing, helpful cousin" part :).

Munchkin's estimated arrival is February 8, 2012.  I love the day already!  What wonderful times we have together, in the Mommyhood (i.e. crazy) club together!  I can't wait to cuddle little Munchkin.  I am in love already.

It will soon be my turn to buy the noisy toys, give the extra piece of candy, teach the silly tricks to, and love, love, love my niece/nephew to pieces!!!

Thank you A and B for making us an Auntie and Uncle.  We won't let you down, I promise!!!

Here's a glimpse at Allie's first year of Auntie to Caden.  I've got a lot to live up to.

Swimming Lessons

Tonight was Caden's 4th Swimming lesson.  Tonight Daddy joined us and Mommy stayed out while daddy got in on the fun.  Mommy even became paparazzi and took a few.....or ton......of pics :).  It was so cute, he would look for me every so often and point at me, "Momma!" and make sure I was watching.

He is loving lessons now.  He cheers for his friends (and himself) when they take turns doing their 'swimming skills.'  He goes under water like a champ, can hold himself on the wall, blow bubbles, etc.  He has a long ways to go but considering where we've gotten in 4 weeks, we are thrilled for him!  We signed up for August (5 more weeks) yay!!  We are so glad to have Elizabeth and Krissy in class with us.  It is so much fun!!
